About Julie
Julie Gittemeier is a mixed media artist based in Saint Louis. She specializes in acrylic paint, alcohol inks, oil, and her favorite, resin. Creating art was a hobby that Gittemeier clung to during the Pandemic of 2020. During that time, when the world “shut down”, she devoted herself to learning and researching different art techniques, merely for an outlet. Over weeks, months…a couple years of trial and error, she began pursuing her hobby turned passion, turned business, “Sapphire and Ice Art”.
A common theme throughout many pieces, can be easily seen, the presence of light, angels, clouds, all tie into her work, which depict her faith. Butterflies are also common, as she has spoken that butterflies signify transformation and growth, which holds a closeness to her heart, as she was a stay-at-home mom prior to this endeavor.
Gittemeier was a participating artist at The New Town Art and Wine Stroll in 2022. She has been in several art exhibits in St. Louis. Her first feature was in the exhibit, “Abstracted” at the Green Door Art Gallery, in Webster Groves in 2022. Since her first show, she has had a solo exhibit at The Lillian Yahn Gallery, in O’Fallon as well as helping curate an exhibit for Emerging Artists in the area in Feb 2023, with shows scheduled for September and October of this year. She has her wall art displaying in many surrounding businesses in the St. Louis area, as well as selling her more functional pieces in boutiques, ranging from Chesterfield, St. Peters, and Wentzville.
“It’s important for me to paint from my heart, and soul, and capture beauty through sharing my belief in God, especially on days when our world seems very dark. I truly hope you feel a sense of calm and peace when viewing my work.”
